The Challenge
Deliveroo has a big problem with scaling out its business to keep up with the quickly expanding demand for online food delivery. Customers were unhappy and left because they had to wait a long time, their orders were not tracked correctly, and there weren't many restaurants to choose from. Deliveroo needed a strong and flexible technological solution to improve delivery logistics, make the customer experience better, and reach more people.
02. Engineering
The Solution
Deliveroo came up with a multi-faceted solution that focused on improving both the software that customers use and the backend infrastructure. The software was revamped to be easier to use, including real-time GPS tracking, and provide users personalised restaurant suggestions. Deliveroo improved its dispatch system on the backend so that riders are assigned based on their location and availability, which cuts down on delivery times and increases efficiency. They also added more servers and connected to restaurant POS systems to make order processing automatic and more accurate. Deliveroo also spent money on training and assistance for its riders to make sure that deliveries went off without a hitch.
